The Way, The Truth and The Life

Day Three
Scripture:  To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 NIV
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 NIV
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Hebrews 10:26-27 NIV
Thought:  Jesus is The Truth.  I’m reminded of when Jesus confronted Pilate and talked about The Truth.  Pilate, tormented and conflicted by his own thoughts, says “What is truth?”  If we believe in Jesus and believe God’s Word is the revelation of Jesus, that is our Truth.  It is not bound by the world’s deceptions and confusions.  No, this Truth guides our life, shows that we are Jesus’ disciples and sets us free.  We are free from condemnation, guilt, shame, torment.
We see Satan’s handiwork in this world.  We see people being deceived and as a result, they are perishing and they don’t even realize it.  It is like the movie, The Sixth Sense, where the little boy said, “I see dead people, but they don’t know they are dead.” Satan, the Father of Lies, keeps people in this state of ignorant bliss.  They are denying Jesus by their lives.
We cannot believe the lie that it does not matter how we live.  The truth sets us free from the power of sin.  If we are still willfully sinning, we may not have the Truth, Who is Jesus.
Application:  My fraternity had a creed which included, “to serve in the light of Truth.”  This creed was inspired by God’s Word.  Are we serving in the light of Truth.  Do we know The Truth?  Are we holding to Jesus’ teachings?  Are we still imprisoned by Sin?
If we are lying about anything in our lives, that something must go.
Response:  Let’s bring any lies and deceit in our lives into His light and His truth.  Let’s receive His forgiveness and His truth and start walking as His disciples.
