The Way, The Truth and The Life
-continued-

Day Two

Scripture:  But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here,he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,so that we may serve the living God!

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:11-15 NIV

Thought:  Jesus is The Way.  In this world of moral relativism and this secular idea that all religions take you to Heaven, Jesus speaks loud and clear that He is the way to Heaven.  In John 14:6, He says, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  In this Hebrews verse above, the writer explains the significance of the blood of this unblemished Lamb, Jesus.  It says that His blood cleanses us from our sins, allowing us to serve God.  Christianity is the only religion whose God came to earth and died as a sacrifice and rose from the dead.
When Jesus died for us, we were given the promise of eternal life.  We are set free from rules, regulations, and death.  At once, we were like prisoners, held bondage by our sinful nature and by the devil, but Jesus came to set us prisoners free.  There is no more need for sacrificial bulls and goats and lambs.  Jesus opened up the way, once and for all!
Application:  Let’s meditate on this for a bit.  It is very important that our thinking is clear on this monumental statement.  Jesus is The Way.  If we think there are other ways, we are being misled.
Do we understand that our sins, past, present and future were cleansed by Jesus?  Are we still living in bondage to sin?  Jesus wants to set us free!
Let’s write in our journals.  Let’s talk to God about our sin and receive His forgiveness and cleansing.
Response:  This is Good News!  Let’s write a prayer of thanksgiving, worship and praise to Jesus, the King of kings, who considered us worthy of His death.
