The Way, The Truth and The Life

Day Four

Scripture: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10 ESV
Thought: Jesus is The Life. Jesus came to give us life and not just any life, but abundant life. This is a life full of richness (beyond material possessions) and peace and joy. He is bringing us a taste of Heaven on earth.
Our faith is not just about grinding it through life, enduring it but not really enjoying it, knowing that heaven awaits. No, that is the life the thief, the Enemy of our souls, has in mind for us. He lures us in, appealing to our sinful nature, trying to get us focused solely on ourselves and gaining satisfaction in this life, only to steal our lives.
Application: Does life seem more like a drudgery than a joy? Is our life abundant? If life seems unfulfilling, we must consider whether we have given our life to Jesus or if we are still running the show.
A life submitted to Jesus is a life that is abiding in Jesus. This life produces fruit like joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness. It is a life which is attractive to others and draws them to Jesus.
Response: If this is the life we want, we need to fall on our knees and give Jesus the wheel to our car of life.
