We believe guiding a Journey group is a way to live out the Great Commission in which Jesus commanded us to Make Disciples.  Therefore, we believe it is a “Sacred Responsibility”.  Through the years we have found there is a certain DNA to being an effective Guide of a Journey Group.  We created some Guide DNA videos to help you as you prepare to lead participants toward Christ.  We also have Session by Session Guide Videos which will help you prepare to guide each session.  These are all found on our Videos Page.

As a Guide, you also want to make sure you have a copy of the Journey Leader’s Guide, available in our Store.

Steps for Starting a Journey Group

#1.  Find a Co-Guide!  We recommend that each Journey Group be led by 2 or 3 people, just as Jesus sent His disciples out 2 x 2.

#2. Pray for the Holy Spirit to show you who to invite to your group.  He will put people on your mind as you pray.

#3. Invite people that God puts on your heart and give them a copy of The Journey to the Inner Chamber This little book has proven to be a good tool to assess where individuals are spiritually and to find out if they are ready for The Journey.

#4. Invite them to a 6-Week Study of The Journey to the Inner Chamber.  This is a low-commitment on-ramp to our 9-month discipleship process.  By the end of 6 weeks, Participants will know if they want to go deeper and go on The Journey.

#5. Invite your 6-Week Study participants on The Journey, which is the 9-month Discipleship process, to help them find an intimate, abiding relationship with Christ so they can become Disciples and learn how to make Disciples.

  • All Participants will need to order The Journey Pack, which contains The Journey Manual, the Influencers Journal, The Prayer Cottage and the Sacred Garden, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 and Secrets of the Vine.  This is $75.00, available in our Store.
  • All Guides of a Journey Group will need the materials above, but will also need The Journey Leader’s Guide.  This has key information for Guides to help them in planning and leading the group.

#6. Lay out your schedule for the group.  The Journey was designed for meeting EVERY OTHER WEEK, with 2 week’s of assignments in between.  Some groups have opted to meet weekly and cover 1/2 Session each week.
