Heaven Knocking on Our Door- DAY 12- January 21, 2020
January 21, 2020
Day Twelve
Gifted for Service
Scripture:
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Thought:
The song begins to build into a crescendo, as the gifted singer feeds her emotions into the message being conveyed. Our hearts are beating faster as we join the thought being skillfully expressed. Joining the lyrics and emotion is the band behind her building rhythm and chord that stirs us and shakes us. The singer is a small woman with a big voice. The band is a few players with amazing dexterity on their instruments. This team is being used by God to proclaim the Gospel in their own way. The words then erupt, and we see with the eyes of our heart the arisen Savior walk from His tomb:
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
You will recognize the words to be from the song Forever, sung by Kari Jobe. This is a beautiful example of spiritually gifted and musically talented people being used to bring glory to their King. Kari’s talent delivers the song. But the spiritual gift in her causes the message of the song to resonate in our hearts. This talent/gift combination is true for Kari and can also be true with all of us. No, we cannot all sing like Kari. But all believers have a special spiritual gift, and some sort of talent, whether it be serving, speaking, working with our hands or simply listening to a troubled person. This gift and talent, no matter what it might be, will create beautiful music of sorts, and will bless the one who is ministered to.
Application:
I am a steward of God’s talents and spiritual gifts that He has given to me. I must use these gifts as if I have been entrusted with great wealth by a landowner who expects me to “steward” his resources. It is the same with the life God has given me. I am to be a steward of this life, and I am accountable to my King for what I have, what I will have, who comes into my life, and the days that I have left. Every day and every moment in this life must be given back to my King to be used for His honor and glory. Am I doing this?
Response:
Father there are many days that I was not the faithful steward of this life that I should be. I have sought your forgiveness and it has been given to me. I have been given a new day, a new opportunity and a new life to be used correctly. I thank You for this opportunity. Holy Spirit I now ask You to guide my steps from this point to be used the best that a surrendered life can be used. I’m all in Lord. Take what You want of me. It is for Your glory and in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Your Child
