Day Twenty

God’s Treasure Map

Scripture:

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”  (2 Timothy 3:16 ESV)

Thought:

For the last nineteen blogs I have provided insight with the way I journal through scripture.  They were random scriptures and were not based on a particular theme other than the importance of self-feeding on God’s word.  It is a daily habit that I’ve enjoyed for forty years now.  I have stacks of journals that record my spiritual journey through life.  Perhaps they will mean something to a family member one day, as they navigate their own life and need a mentor’s help?  Even if they do not serve someone else, they have served as a reference point in my life and the challenges I faced, and best of all, how God led me through them.  This comforts me when I face new trials.  I am reminded every day that God speaks if we will seek and listen to Him, and that brings me to my final encouragement.

God is wanting to talk directly to you.  He wants to have conversation with you where He speaks to you and you listen deeply, and you then speak to Him in prayer about what He has said to you.  This is an example of communing with God.  It means intimate communication between the two of you.  If you rely on a sermon or a devotional such as mine or any other you read for your spiritual nourishment, you cheat yourself.  There is much more for you to discover, and God wants you to know what it is.

I hope my journal has served as a motivation to you to do the same.  Get a good bible translation you enjoy reading.  Get a large journal you can write in.  Get a good pen and highlighter for marking in your bible.  Use the S.T.A.R. method that has been presented to you, if you are unfamiliar with journaling through scripture.  It will help you get started.  Take your time and commune with your Papa.  He’s waiting for you.  God bless you on your treasure hunt.  You will find more than you can realize.

Your Brother,

Rocky
