Heaven Knocking on Our Door- DAY EIGHT- January 15, 2020

Day Eight
Rejoice!
Scripture:
“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” Psalm 96:11-12
Thought:
We’re on the ocean at Fort Morgan, Alabama. It has been warm, cold, mild, rainy and sunny. I have caught fish that are delicious to eat. The beach is all but deserted, for this time of year few people come to it. I love it. It gives me the joyful opportunity to enjoy God’s creation, and in doing so, enjoy Him. I think David had this in mind when he was inspired to write this Psalm. I’m sure there were other reasons, such as the Ark being delivered into the tent that he had made for it. Either way, his heart was full of praise, worship and joy to the Lord. He even danced for Him.
Application:
I too am inspired by Father to look around and to see, really see, His creation. I feel that my “looking and seeing” is directly connected to my heart that is connected to Him. He has given me the eyes to see and appreciate, like He sees and enjoys His creation.
What comes to mind right now is how He also enjoys His creation, which includes me. Mankind was made in His image. I don’t think it is our physical aspect that this speaks to. I think it is our soul and spirit that is eternal, and this is His image that we were created. I think we were made to respond to those things He enjoys, and this is in a way is another aspect of being made in His image. Satan has corrupted the beauty that God created and made things we find appealing a perversion from the original intent by God. Therefore, things such as a God given desire for our spouse can be perverted to lust and envy outside of marriage. The evil man took something good that God intended and turned it to evil. But that is not the end of the story. God had a plan that was fulfilled by Jesus to restore that which was lost. When I abide in Jesus as He abides in me, I am restored to the original joy of enjoying God and His creation. When I enjoy Him, He enjoys me, and everything is as it should be.
Response:
“Father, I thank You for giving me eyes to see, and a heart to behold the majesty of Your creation. Lord, I ask You to continue to open my eyes and my heart to those things that You see, and that You want me to enjoy with You, but are often left unnoticed. The beach, the birds and trees are to be enjoyed. You have shown me this. But equally are other people, for they were delicately formed in their mother’s womb by You, and beautiful are Your works. My family and friends are for sure big on Your list for me. But as well the stranger I meet who may need a helping hand, or someone who needs to be shown Your Spirit within me by the way I treat them, or someone who shows me Your Spirit within them. Lord, I ask You to open my eyes and my heart to Your glory so that I may be blessed by these people, as You want me to be a blessing to them. I ask this in Jesus name.”
