Heaven Knocking on Our Door- DAY ONE- January 6, 2020
January 5, 2020

Day One
Jesus’ Knock
Scripture:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelations 3:20 (ESV)
Thought:
Bob Dylan wrote a song called "Knockin on Heaven’s Door." It’s a song about a lawman who is about to die. I think Dylan got it wrong. The knock is not when we die, and when we ask if we can come into Heaven. The knock comes before that and is from Heaven on the door of our heart. Will we answer the knock, and let Christ in? If we do, we do not have to knock on Heaven’s door, for it will be wide open for us.
Heaven continues to knock on our heart even after we make the decision to let Christ into our heart. This knock is the continued leadership of the Holy Spirit as He teaches us how to live. Will we answer this knock as well? It will likely require a change of life to obey the instructions we will get. However, the purpose of God’s continued knock on our heart is to help us empty our hands so that something greater can fill them and so He can lead us to the desire of our heart.
Application:
Today I begin a series where I hope to unpack some knocks on mine as well your door. Perhaps we will forget about ourselves and allow the words God gives us to knock on our door’s heart. If so, then I’ve fulfilled my purpose in sharing these thoughts with you. Let me know if He speaks to you.
Response:
Father I thank You for speaking to my heart with the messages I will be sharing the next few weeks. I pray that someone will hear You knocking on their door and will respond to You. I commit these words and prayers to Your honor and glory. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.
