Heaven Knocking on Our Door- DAY THREE- January 8, 2020

Day Three
God’s Kind of Wisdom
Scripture:
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:17-18 ESV
Thought:
Wisdom comes from personal experience and there are two kinds of wisdom. There’s wisdom we gain from our experience with life and there is wisdom that comes from God’s experience with life. One is temporal and the other is eternal. One is limited in scope and the other has a view that knows all things and understands all that He knows. Which wisdom do I desire? Which wisdom do I seek? If I want God’s wisdom, I must seek it from Him. The good news is He has said for His family to come and get it.
Application:
I understand that we live in a dog eat dog world and survival is much about the wisdom we gain to find an edge, or so the world tells us this. This insight from the world goes on to say that if we do not find this survival wisdom then we will fall into a category. It is called “Victim.” That’s what the world’s wisdom tells us and is why we live in turmoil and fear. But God’s wisdom tells us some contrary things, such as we must die to live, give to get, serve to lead, surrender to find victory.
What gives with Heaven’s Wisdom? It seems to be the antithesis of everything the world teaches us? If you are thinking this, then you would be right. God’s wisdom and the leadership we find from it leads us on a different path from that of the world’s ways and means. But His path will lead to the desires of our heart and wellness with our soul, if we will trust His wisdom.
The wisdom I’ve found from God required that I abandon my preconceived notions about the way things should be. The first step in finding this wisdom required my trust that He controls the outcome, and not me or the other people. I have to battle with this illusion of trying to control an outcome until I wise up and realize that I cannot truly control it, but only God can. Then I find peace, and see, or will eventually see that God’s plan is best for me.
Response:
Father thank You for putting up with my arrogance and naive illusion that I can control people or an outcome for my own good. This illusion was a great hindrance to receiving what You wanted for me, which has always been far better for me. May it be that I will consider You first and foremost in all my decision makings? May I seek Your wisdom and Your guidance, and may Your peace lead me with each step I make. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior.
