In These Quiet Moments Shouts from Heaven

“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,

my glory, and the lifter of my head.

I cried aloud to the Lord,

and he answered me from his holy hill. 

I lay down and slept;

I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.”  Psalm 3:3-5 (ESV)

The silence is deafening.  Some say it is boredom.  Some say it is the isolation and depression that creeps into our perspective.  Everyone says it is a disruption at best, and a new way of doing life becomes a reality, at least for a while.  I seriously doubt that life will go on as it was doing before this pandemic in our country and the world started gaining momentum.  The vulnerability is obvious.  We live in a wounded world that sin and the destroyer of God’s paradise brought to it.  All of us are victims of this action of his, and the foolish reaction by Adam and Eve who started the destruction of planet Earth and its inhabitants. But we still have a choice, as they did.  Will we continue to be blind to God’s extension of His salvation that will take us from this wounded world to His kingdom where we will never see anything like this again, or will we still hold on to the thought that things will get better in this world.  I’m sorry to say that it will not get better.  Yes, we may lick this virus, as has been the case with other viral flus in the past.  We might go back to work, build the economy back, get healthy, and start the same political fighting that preceded this time.  We may even say, “Thank God for normalcy again.”  But it will not end there.  There will be more destruction to lives and nations in some way until Christ returns.  It is inevitable.  It has been prophesied.  So, what do we do to make this life change we will face be a good life change?

I entitled my subject today In These Quiet Moments Shouts from Heaven for a reason, for it is the best place to find answers for what’s next.  I have felt for a long time the best thing that my children and grandchildren can have for every disaster that I know they will face is to have an intimate familiarity with Holy Spirit’s voice, and a courageous commitment to obey Him.  I believe and have personally discovered through the years of becoming familiar with His voice that He has indeed guided me to the best place for my family and me to eventually land.  Sure, there were things that didn’t make sense and obedience was required before enlightenment.  That is what faith requires.  But looking back, I can see that every step that I took in obedience and faith to do what He has instructed me to do has always led to good.  But there is a requirement to do these things of obedience in peace, when our world is falling apart around us.  It requires intimacy with Him, and this requires time with Him.

To me the great blessing that is falling on the Body of Christ in this national crisis is having the time to turn our quiet moments into shouts from heaven.  The time, and our commitment to use our time to spend extra time alone with the Lord, asking Him to teach us and lead us through scripture, will be the best use of time that seems to be wasted.  This is the time that will prepare us for what is next.  He wants to prepare us and equip us to reach out to a world that is frightened and alone.  God has established a great harvest that is ready to be gathered if His family will submit to be used by Him.  This is our time to reach people of this world from their eventual destruction and give them back the paradise that was lost.

Now allow me to give you a creative idea.  There will be thousands of you who will read this blog today.  Multiply that number by ten and this will tell you that you have at least ten people who are in great need of the encouragement and hope that Jesus can bring them.  Family members, friends, co-workers, church members, they all need you to reach to them and help them find comfort.  Pray about this list of people.  Ask God to put their names on your heart.  Next build a Virtual Journey Group with these people that Holy Spirit has given to you and get ready to invite them.  We will help you set it up and train you with all that you need to do.  All you need to do is ask and we will help.

Especially you men and women who have been through a Journey Group and were blessed by it and are not currently guiding one, this is your time to launch out and reach back to others.  When you do this your intimacy with Christ and your courage will grow, and you will see that you have become the Laborer for the harvest field that Jesus told us to pray for.  Think about that.  You will become an answer to a prayer that began over two thousand years ago.  Can you see why I can say that I think we are going to see a Great Awakening, and it has begun?  Will you join God’s labor force?  We will help you and get your ministry launched.  We are here for you.
