Noteworthy Quotes From Rocky's Books

July 26, 2024

Each Friday in July, we will be sharing a quote from one of Rocky’s books. We hope they will inspire you and cause you to seek God and dig deeper in His Word.

From Forged For a Vision....

"I was alone, and I cried out aloud to God. I pressed close to the Lord and sought His comfort. I sought Him as my refuge. I was weeping and kneeling in the wet grass with no care about it ruining the suit I was wearing when I received the news, and I drove home in it. “Father, I have lost my dad. What am I going to do now?” Suddenly I felt words spoken to my heart that were real. They gave me hope. They gave me comfort. They touched directly what I was feeling and needed to hear “My son, I will be your Daddy from now on.” It was at that moment, and in the most grievous time of my life, that I came to understand the term Abba, which is mentioned in the Bible. I didn’t know at that time that this word is translated as “Daddy.” – From Forged For a Vision

From The Return...

“What do we do next, Seth?” Billy asked.

“Spiritual warfare, partner. We get before the Lord and seek His voice. We ask what He is showing us. We look for signs. This is not a holiday break at the beach. It is a serious pursuit of God’s leadership, although it might seem that we are doing nothing. We walk, do some fishing for food, talk, pray, read scripture, and share our lives with each other. God wants unity in His family, and when two of His sons are in agreement in our hearts and souls and seek His counsel, He provides it and does magnificent work for us and through us. That’s what we will do for the next several days, or as long as it takes.” – From “The Return

From "Proximity"

"I am cautious to be moving our thoughts toward fruit, for we tend to see our purpose rather than our mission to be that of bearing fruit for Christ. We do have a mission, and it is called the Great Commission, which is to make disciples. But our purpose as followers of Christ is to simple, but faithfully, and most importantly, abide with Jesus. We should not see our mission greater than our purpose, or before our purpose, or we will miss Jesus’ design for His Church. The purpose should always come first". – From “Proximity”

From "Compelled by Grace"

Gabe said, “When I became a Christian and started to understand I have an invisible spiritual war constantly going on around me, I came to realize the great need for the protection and wisdom God gives to my family and me through prayer. I am convinced it is absolutely essential to our walk with Him. When I began to look outside our own needs, and to look at the condition of our extended family and friends, I applied a special kind of prayer to their needs. I called it Saturation Prayer. With this kind of prayer, I asked God to bombard these people with circumstances and challenges that would reveal to them their independence of Him, and to put in them a conscious and desperate need for His help, as well, the need to get to know Him better. Amazingly, I saw God bring into their lives humbling circumstances, and this made them want His help.” – From “Compelled by Grace”
