Ordained Pain
-continued-

Day Five

Scripture: "Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint."  Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV

Thought:  Do you feel struck down?  Are you weary and weak?  Have you fallen?  Are you sick?  The God of the Universe cares about you.  He knows that we must endure pain and suffering, and each time this happens, it gives Him an opportunity to come to us and lift us up.  He brings us strength and power in the midst of our weakness.  Only He could do something like that.
When I am weak, and He comes to my rescue, He makes me stronger than I was before.  This is great news!  Oh, how I need to keep my eyes on the King, on my gracious, powerful God and not on my own misery.  He is like an intense coach, who lets me be pushed beyond my fleshly limits so He can take me to heavenly heights.  What a God!
Application:  Take your journal and on one side of the paper, write down your feelings about yourself right now, especially if you are feeling broken.  Be honest.  On the other side of the paper, write down Who He is.  Write down every adjective you can think of to describe your God.
As you think of how big He is compared to you and your problems, know that He can redeem you.  Think of all the times He has been there for you in your life.  If you can't think of any examples, say a prayer, asking Him to remind you.  There is no doubt He has been there.
Response:  Write a prayer in your journal.  If you have sinned, ask for forgiveness.  Write down your plans of repentance.  If you have been struck down, ask God to lift you up.  Ask Him to show you His vision for your life.  Write the vision down in your journal.  Praise Him for the strength He is giving you for the tasks ahead.
