Ordained Pain
-continued-

Day Three

Scripture:
"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,' declares the Lord.  'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.'"  Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

Thought:  We will not understand everything about God's plan for our life or His ways.  As Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:7-10, we will be "perplexed" at times.  Even though Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to live in me as a believer, there are many things beyond me.  God is the creator of the universe, He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and yet, I get frustrated when I can't figure him out.  How foolish!
I need to submit to God always, but especially when I'm troubled and confused.  He will reveal things to me in His own time, in His own way.  I may never understand things this side of heaven, and I need to be okay with that.  My earthly mind cannot handle all that is being played out.  He wants me to trust Him.
Application:  Are you perplexed about something in your life?  Are there scriptures you just don't understand?  Are you having a difficult time reconciling a situation that defies your sense of logic or justice?
Write these thoughts down in the most transparent, honest way to God in your journal.  If you have read the Psalms, you have read King David's heartcries to God.  He can handle your questions and your confusion.
Q.  Are you willing to trust Him, even in not knowing the "why"?
Consider Job's afflictions and his lack of understanding.  Journal how his situation compares to yours.
Response:  Offer God a "sacrifice of praise," meaning that you will Praise Him for something in your life that is causing you pain or perplexion. Write down a prayer of thanksgiving and trust.  Be specific about your situation.
Once you have done this, share with someone what you have done.
